EDI Analyst Job Description
EDI Analyst is responsible for reliable and effective data exchange both inside and outside the company. Often EDI analyst takes part in company EDI program realization, e.g. a list of EDI transactions, business partners, message volume etc. Also EDI analyst monitors changes needed for current EDI system update, any drawbacks in it and possible solutions. EDI analyst often cooperates closely with EDI team or is a part of it.
EDI analyst is responsible for effective business transactions exchange. The messages can be sent using schemes “business-to-consumer”, “business-to-business”, “internal transactions”. The analyst’s task is to define and carry out these transactions. Also, at this position, the person is responsible for database – both company’s database and vendor’s database.
EDI Analyst Requirements
Network knowledge is required as EDI analyst works with electronic data exchange between the companies. This can be a degree in information technology, computer science, technology management, or computer engineering. Among basic skills required for this position, we should mention the following:
- Knowledge about computer networking
- Excellent analytical skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good lead skills
- Ability to monitor and solve problems
What are typical responsibilities of an EDI analyst? He/she should provide recommendations for problem resolution, prepare documentation for software implementation, create the process flow, develop and execute test plans, provide technical support, deliver training sessions for novice EDI team members, Learn new tools and other depending on a certain company requirements.
