EDI Connectivity Notes For Unity Health Insurance Vendors

EDI Connectivity guidelines will help parties involved in electronic documents exchange with Unity Health Insurance to get basic information about EDI process.

EDI Connectivity Authentication/Authorization policies for User ID and Password (new trading partners)

  • Sign and mail two original copies of trading partner agreement to Unity Health Insurance
  • Once both originals are received, approved and signed by Unity Health Plans one of the originals will be return mailed to the vendor or clearinghouse.
  • Send an email to EDI@unityhealth.com with subject line “Authentication/Authorization Request – Unity CORE Connectivity – TP Name – TX Type – New Trading Partner” (TP Name=Clearinghouse or Direct Submitter Name; TX Type=ANSI X12 Transaction (e.g. 270/271 or 276/277)). Include your technical contact information in the email body.
  • Expect a 7 to 10 business day turn around time to receive your User ID and Password.
  • An email will be generated and sent to your technical contact containing your test URLs and authentication credentials.
  • Commence testing.
  • Once you are satisfied with results, notify Unity via email.
  • A response email will be generated and sent to your technical contact containing your production URLs and authentication credentials.
  • Start submitting to production.

System Availability

Scheduled system maintenance downtime typically occurs on the third Thursday of every month between 2am and 4am. During this time, you will not be able to perform Eligibility and Benefit (270/271) and Claim Status (276/277) system inquiries. Downtimes do not occur on holidays unless an emergency or scheduled maintenance occurs.

  • Message format and supported transactions:
    • Real time 270/271 and 276/277
    • Batch 270/271 and 276/277
  • Details about the ASC X12 Interchange: Each interchange will contain one functional group.
  • Custom extensions: None; any extension is accepted Batch response files locations: The locations and mechanisms to pick up batch files are the same as those used to retrieve real time files.
