EDI Outsourcing Companies and Providers – make the right choice
EDI Outsourcing Companies provide customers with the needed EDI service and satisfy client’s demands that were set for the definite solution. Today’s post will help you decide which outsourcing method and provider to choose.
There are many service providers in the marketplace who offer services based on one or more of EDI outsourcing methods. If you currently operate an in-house EDI system it becomes a decision of whether or not to keep it. If the answer is yes, the only outsourcing method to pursue is Remote Administration. If you are new to EDI or you no longer wish to keep your in-house EDI system, the next step is to estimate how much EDI activity you anticipate today and in the future. The total estimated activity will determine which method you should pursue. For high activity, Service Bureau is the best option. With such a high volume of transactions, you will want to automate the process and integrate the data with your business application. For medium activity, Service Bureau or Web/Desktop Access are both viable options.
Choosing between these two methods depends on which system you will use to control the flow of transactions. If you want to use your business application to control the flow, then the Service Bureau is the best option. If you wish to use the service provider’s software to control the flow, then Web/Desktop Access is the best option. With both methods you can integrate the data with your business application. For low or seasonal EDI activity, Web/Desktop Access and Service Bureau are both viable options. Choosing between these methods depends on your technology comfort level. If you are comfortable using a web browser or PC software, then Web/Desktop Access is the best option. If you are uncomfortable using new software, if your EDI activity is minimal, or you simply want nothing to do with EDI activities, then a Fax-to-EDI Service is the best option. Alternatively, you can enter transactions directly into the service provider’s system using Web Forms. Be aware that if the volume of your transactions increases, you may wish to change outsourcing methods.
