Heidelberg Electronic Data Interchange

Heidelberg Electronic Data Interchange Supplier Basics

Heidelberg Electronic Data Interchange introduction for communication with suppliers is part of the EBusiness-Process of Heidelberg. It is the aim of Heidelberg Electronic Data Interchange to reach an exclusive application of EDI in the communication with supplier, where commercially viable and where the necessary IT infrastructure is in place. The option of EDI via internet-access to the Seeburger AG (Web-EDI, i. e. web-supported EDI) is also available.

Heidelberg focuses strongly on electronic communication with its suppliers. One important building block of this strategy is the Web-EDI process which can be used by suppliers alternatively to classical EDI.

Web-EDI As An Alternative to Classical EDI

Web-EDI combines the advantages of EDI with the flexibility of the internet

  • Attractive solution even for medium size suppliers, no investment on supplier-side
  • Heidelberg pays the implementing costs, the supplier pays a fee per year for using the system
  • Suppliers can send and receive data on electronic way (automatic interface on Heidelberg side)

Web-Based Collaboration in the Heidelberg Procurement Process

For the safe exchange of critical data between suppliers and Heidelberg, Heidelberg provides the web-based Portal Pool4Tool. The system facilitates the fast, safe and structured exchange of data. The tool enables all Collaboration-users – even those working on opposite sides of the planet – to cooperate in virtual teams. To use the tool, suppliers only need internet access.
