Indigo Books EDI initiative and vendor compliance
The purpose of the post is to communicate Indigo Books EDI initiative requirements to its private label vendors. Indigo Books and Music Inc. is a world class supply chain organization focused on delivering the best products to the customers. Indigo Books EDI initiative expects that all vendors will transact via EDI from the initial onset of the commercial relationship. There are significant productivity and process visibility gains that are realized through the use of EDI. Please note that the cost of EDI non-compliance is $250 per non-compliant Purchase Order unless the EDI exemption has been provided.
Indigo Books EDI initiative transaction sets
Indigo believes that the ability to conduct business electronically is critical to operating effectively with vendor firm. The documents currently required are:
- 850 Purchase Order (Stand Alone or Cross-Dock)
- 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment
- 856 ASN (Advanced Ship Notice)
- 810 Invoice
- 860 Purchase Order Change and/or Cancellation
- 997 Functional Acknowledgement
- GS1-128 Label.
To become an Indigo Books EDI initiative partner you should complete a form on Indigo Books & Music Inc. web-page. EDI representative will contact you to initiate the transition. It takes 4-6 weeks of elapsed time before you are ready, so please initiate this activity immediately.
As an existing vendor transacting via EDI with Indigo Books & Music Inc., you will be expected to interact with Indigo Books & Music Inc. EDI provider as existing EDI documents are changed and/or new EDI documents implemented. You will be notified of any such developments and Indigo Books & Music Inc. EDI provider will work directly with your organization to Test & Certify the new documents if required.
Your provider will be required to Test & Certify through Indigo Books & Music Inc. EDI provider on new Indigo Books & Music Inc. documents. It is important to consider whether there are open orders residing with your current EDI service provider; you will need to ensure that you will be able to receive/send documents relating to these open orders from your new EDI service provider. This process can take 2-3 weeks to be executed well.
