Stater Bros EDI: NEX/DEX Standards Definition

Stater Bros EDI requirements are a part of general Stater Bros. vendor program. To evaluate and address the risks of human mistakes in its product supply chain documents processing, Stater Bros. Markets verification process consists solely of asking its direct suppliers to use electronic data interchange communication and their products comply with the established EDI requirements and rules.

Stater Bros does not engage a third party auditor to conduct independent, unannounced audits of its suppliers. Stater Bros. Markets does not conduct regular audits of the vendors and suppliers to monitor their ongoing compliance with EDI standards. However, Stater Bros. Markets requests that its vendors and suppliers grant the right to conduct such audits upon request.

Stater Bros EDI is the exchange of business documents through electronic transmission of one computer system to another computer system using a standard EDI format. EDI standards define the way businesses communicate documents between each other on a daily basis.

Stater Bros EDI Direct Store Delivery (DSD) is when vendors deliver their products directly to the stores bypassing the warehouse. There are various ways of receiving the vendors’ items through electronic communications: NEX (Network Exchange) and DEX (Direct Exchange).

Stater Bros EDI NEX (Network Exchange) is a type of DSD receiving that uses an electronic invoice, or EDI 894, transmitted directly to Stater Bros. Corporate office where it is forwarded to the appropriate stores. The invoice will appear in the back receiving system, just as DEX invoices are received after the driver has completed the DEX procedure with its DEX equipment.

Stater Bros EDI DEX (Direct Exchange) is the process between the driver using the DEX handheld unit and connecting directly to the stores PC by means of a direct wiring connecting to the RCA jack and exchanging information with the store PC software directly at that point creating an invoice.
