EDI 850 Mapping Exercise (Mapping Specifications)
EDI 850 Mapping Exercise is intended to demonstrate the use of Mapping Specifications and how machine-processable EDI standard file might look on a real business document.
Instructions
Using the 850 Purchase Order Mapping specifications the sample raw EDI data 850 transaction, fill in the blank manual Purchase Order Form for both of the purchase orders. Some of the answers are not in the IG (e.g. Total line item amount). The name of fields on the from don’t necessarily match the descriptions / names in the mapping spec. For example: Do not deliver after date DTM*063 will match Cancel After Date on the PO form. The same situation will occur in your ERP – the field names in your sales order/or invoice application will not always match the field names in the EDI mapping spec.
